Call me selfish, but (big shocker) I cast my vote for Greenwich, Manhattan or Brooklyn. Everything else is just toooooo far!

Another selfish comment, perhaps, but LA makes complete sense - close to family, foodie culture, farmers markets, great weather...

I guess we will all be selfish one way or the other. My heart is split in two (that is if I am allowed a vote): one half for Manhattan and the other for L.A. The reasons are obvious. S. F. wouldn't be a bad idea either, but that is being really selfish...

Thanks for the votes!

Be as selfish as you like. But, you must present your case! (You may have good reasons that Mark & I haven't thought of.)

Also, if you cast multiple votes, I'm counting them all.

Hey, it's me, Jen. (I don't know why Google calls me Jennifer. Silly Google.)

It clearly has to be some neighborhood-y SoCal burg. Obviously not Hollywood, but a corner that feels like a town (Palisades?). We have everything else. Let's see - starting a new venture? Whoever said, "Stay east, young man?" No! Go West! We have drought resistant green, salt water, great food (and yet, I feel the need of a gourmet market...), great music. And, apparently, tv and film jobs (I hear).

Plus Friends! Friends! Friends!

And, we're closer to Japan.

Need I say more? All right, surely we will have an earthquake, soon, people will run away, making real estate here even more affordable. (Plus I know a really smart realtor ...maybe you've heard of her?)

Okay, I'm done. For now.

You've got a compelling argument there Jen!

Is there even a debate about this? Since there's really only one clear cut answer....
The slow food concept, low carbon foods(using more local farmers and resources), more refined tastes in food, more interest in wines, and a bursting restaurant scene in LA will be a better environment for your new business venture! And LA is so much closer to Japan that you can literally be there in a day's notice. More gourmet stores are popping up left and right in LA, but I could sure use yours in my neighborhood :)

My vote is for the East Coast!!!! It would be great for you to stay in the area for obvious reasons, but in the end, you should follow your heart......

NYC is the intersection of art/music, tv/film, business, technology, and (why lie?) everything else. The price you (we!) pay is, you can never step off the hamster wheel. Of course I don't want you to go!! But personally, I found a grain of truth in the CA stereotype of "do your own thing." Maybe this is a good time to just go with the flow.

D.C.!! They are rebuilding the Eastern Market and we miss Sunday Suppers!

The best solutin may be right here in Mark's home town of Washington, D.C., a pivotal, exciting, and international city with lovely surroundings in the Maryland suburbs and Northern Virginia. Suitable locations for a food-based business abound, and the locals and visitors are bound to provide an eager clientele. Another big plus is the ready-made interim housing situation at 3408 Thornapple. The present occupant is very amenable to being bumped into retirement on Cape Cod. I pick NYC and the surrounding areas of New York state and western CT as runner-up. With love and prayers for a happy outcome, no matter where, Dotty

I guess the only ones who would like you to come to Tokyo would be your Mom and I. But I dont know if this would be a good place for Mark to star a food business. So much depends on bureaucracy and social connections.. so my votes ( if I am allowed to do this) are Tokyo, because we are here, L.A. bceause it is close enough to Tokyo, and New York, because we have friends there and we love the place so much.

You know me guys... life is short... play with no boundries... where "in the world" are you going to live??? Antarctica? Amsterdam? Amazon?

San Francisco, of course! And NO I AM NOT BIASED! OK, maybe a little :) Having lived in many of those places, I still think that quality of life is best in Northern California. Oh yeah, and I need my sushi and bikram partner back.
